Got a few more pictures of my building and surroundings. This is the farthest back I could take the shot without actually being inside the building across the way.
I do not have one of these nice front units that must get a lot of light. Mine is wedged in back between the corrugated metal roof shown earlier and a mad early-morning dishwasher.
My landlord's kitchen on the top floor. Every meal she cooks is packed into tupperware containers or wrapped in dishes and walked down the six or so winding flights to eat in the foyer. This isn't typical because I see other buildings have kitchens on the main floor so I don't know what's going on with this place.
This is a fairly new building and the front half of the top two floors kind of trails off in a structural ellipsis. There are deck chairs out here when it's nicer.
The rest of these are just some views from the rooftop.
Do you see how tight the space is between the buildings? This is not an illusion of height. I'll try to take some pictures of the streets in my neighborhood, but I feel like such a weirdo taking pictures outside people's homes.
Your pictures are typical scenes in an Asian city, you can find similar things in Hong Kong and Cheung Chau.
ReplyDeleteThe front of your building reminds me of the building that Laurence Kaufu lives in.
Does your landlady cook crouched on the floor? It looks like the stove is just sitting on the floor, not on a counter.
One of your pictures in the middle seems to show the builidng constructon just stopped at a gaping hole. Someone got tired and quit? Is anyone allowed to go through that door or is it locked?
I love the old pagodas / temples right in the midst of highrises.
