Guest Services

A small tray of petit fours greeted me. Crème brûlée with fruit bits, fruit filled crêpe, spongy biscuit with a hint of salt and fruit gelée, a shot of coulis. All fruits are indefinable due to extreme exhaustion at the time of ingestion.

Beds are softer and more restful when there's turndown service.

I take pictures of my hotel room because I’m a dope, but I’m a private kind of dope so it took me a while to screw up the nerve to publicly photograph the lobby and elevators.

You can barely see the baby grand piano to the left on the balcony. One evening, there was violin accompaniment in the early evening. Behind that pillar is Olivier, the french fine dining restaurant.

Behind this other pillar is Cafe Rivoli, the hotel's casual restaurant.

They change the arrangements weekly. Before, it was lilies.

Bowls of jasmine blossoms in the elevators and just outside. Absolutely intoxicating.

  1. I have read all of your entries- what an adventure you are having. I chose "guest services" so I know what I will be missing. B and I are familiar with communications through jestering. It can be fun or it can be difficult, but your jester communications are far more extensive in that we could run to our tour director for assistance. Kee it coming pj

  2. The bowls of jasmin flowers were an excellent touch. Reminded me of my grandmother who would have a small bowl of water with a couple of VERY fragrant flowers in her room in the Summer. These were smallish, about an inch long and more ivory than white and shaped like a tiny trumpet with a bright green calyx. They had a light distinctive, not overpowering, perfume. Since I have been in the States I have been looking for these in nursery catalogs, florists and botanical gardens. I actualy think I saw something similar on a recent walk in Webster. But then these didn't have the fragance.

There was a such a flowering tree on the way to my elementary school. It was heady perfume walking past it on my way to school. I took deep breaths. You could smell them a block away.
